2 months, 1 week, 5 days

This past week has been really fun with Kerala. Kerala went to her first movie this week. One of the local theatres hosts a mommy and me movie, so we went with Tamra and Silas last Tuesday to the movies. We saw a movie about a lawyer who has a baby and decides to stay home.... We also hung out with two very pregnant friends of ours - Lara, who is due this coming week, and Julie, who is due in the first week of June. It was pretty cute because when Kerala would cry Lara's baby would kick.

We had a pretty busy weekend - Saturday we helped our friends JT and Tamra build a patio. Troy worked on the patio while I did baby/toddler duty - Silas, Kerala and Henry. Fortunately, Silas and Kerala slept for a good part of the day, so I got to play with Henry a lot. JT and Tamra took us out to dinner to thank us and it was the first time we had Kerala out to dinner. She slept through most of the dinner, so it was definitely a dining out success. On Sunday, Troy started a new game with Kerala called "Baby Chuck Norris." He basically has her kick his face and fight the evil ninjas - surprisingly, she really seems to like it. We also headed over to Grandma and Grandpa Perry's on Sunday for dinner and Kerala had a nice visit with her grandparents. On Monday, we hosted a play date with Dave, Kristy, Valerie Violet (Kerala's BFF), Rollie, Robin and Rachel. Having Rollie over made us realize we definitely have a lot of baby proofing to do on our house. We wrapped up the holiday weekend with a bbq at our friends Tiffany and Mike's house.

Over the past week Kerala has started to really play with her toys - she is grabbing things and holding onto things pretty well. She even picked up a rattle (but I think it was because it was close to her hands). Our most exciting event of the week though was a giggle we got out of Kerala. Troy was blowing on her belly while changing her diaper and she started to giggle - hopefully, we will have more of those.

Day 65

This past week went by pretty quickly. It was my last week of vacation before starting my
summer intern. This week Kerala had a number of friends come and visit. Henry and Tamara
stopped by on Tuesday for dinner. On Wednesday Kristy stopped by with Valerie Violet and they
hung out for a bit. Then on Thursday we watched Kerala's uncle, Ryan, win a new jeep on Wheel of Fortune.
We also had our new refrigerator installed on Thursday as well.

On Saturday we took it easy because it was Kerala 2 month check up. This included having four shots, two
in each thigh. She handled the shots pretty well but was tired and a bit fussy for the evening. Her
poor thighs have bumps where the shots were given, but she was smiling and happy for Saturday night and Sunday.
Kerala has had a growth spurt and is now in the 90% for height and 25% for weight.

On Sunday, Kerala welcomed Camille, Tom and Monette. Kerala and Camille hung out with each other while the parents ate
pizza.

Day 59

Kerala survived her first trip into the Loop on the EL. On Thursday, we all headed down with Tamra and Silas to meet our friends, JT and Jeff, for lunch. Kerala was great - she only fussed a bit when it was time for her to eat. On Friday we headed down to Bloomington for Kerala's first trip to Grandma's. Normally the drive takes us two and half hours, however, this one took us five hours because we realized we forgot the camera about a half hour into the trip, getting lost on side streets, road construction and an accident (not ours). Kerala had to stop a couple of times for eating and diaper changes, but otherwise slept most of the way. Kerala got to meet friends and family in Bloomington on Saturday and seemed to have an enjoyable time. She also got to hang out in Grandma's backyard and put her feet in some grass - something she doesn't get to do in the city. On Sunday we celebrated our first mother's day together - first at Troy's mom's and then at my mom's. The only unfortunate event was that when we got home from our weekend away we realized that our refrigerator had broken over the weekend - so today we ended up buying a new refrigerator, which will be delivered later this week. We also planted our flowers today. Tamra watched Kerala and Silas on the deck, while Troy and I planted the flowers.

Day 53

This past week went by pretty quick. Over the weekend Kerala was quite the social butterfly. We went over to Todd and Brandy's on Friday night for some Mexican food. On Saturday Kerala was visited by a number of relatives, see photo. Then on Saturday night we headed over to JT and Tamara's for some very tastey bbq pork.

On Monday, we celebrated Corey's birthday and Tuesday we celebrated me finishing up my second year in law school. I have the next week and half off and we are looking forward to enjoying some very nice weather.

Day 46

There has been lots of firsts this past week. Corey and I had our first night out without Kerala. We had a babysitter come over last Friday for 2 hours. We headed out to Target and a quick dinner before heading home. Kerala did great without us, she fussed a bit but nothing unusual. Kerala went to her first BBQ over at a friends on Saturday and then another BBQ on Sunday. She also went to her first baby shower. And the best first so far has been her 6 hours of continuous sleep! Starting last Saturday night Kerala has been sleeping between 5 and 6 hours at a time during the night. Corey has finally starting to get some decent hours of sleep.

The weather here has been beautiful the last few days and Kerala has gone on numerous walks around the neighborhood as well as meeting up with her buddy Silas at the local park.
